Baby, It's a Wild World

This little fellow is a Texas Horned Lizard, or horny toad, as we called them when I was a kid.  They're not federally listed as an endangered species, but they are listed by our state as a threatened species.  You used to see them all the time, but as they've lost habitat, like a lot of wild creatures, their numbers have dropped.  We have some land south of town that we play around with and there are quite a few out there.  

One of the things I absolutely love about my husband is that he will stop his tractor when he sees one and will pick it up and move it to a safer place.  These little guys are precious and rare.  

And so are men like him.
